How to Have the Ultimate Me Day This V-Day

Valentine’s Day is only a few days away, which, for couples or those in the dating scene, signals a romantic evening spent with someone you care about. And while spending quality time with a significant other is enjoyable, that’s certainly not the only way to spend Valentine’s Day. In fact, I urge you, whether you’re in a relationship or not, to give yourself some love this year. And remember, it doesn’t need to be Valentine’s Day to care for and love yourself.
And since I’m such a huge proponent of self-love and -care, I wanted to share some of my favorite methods for treating myself.
Take a long, hot bath
Yeah, yeah, a romantic bath brimful with rose petals, candles, and another human being is a Valentine’s Day cliché, but taking a long, hat bath by yourself might be even better. Still light your favorite candles, and sprinkle rose petals if you wish, but your Me Day bath is going to need a little more than that. I suggest incorporating an essential oil towelette by Herban Essentials into your self-care bath. By placing a Eucalyptus essential oil towelette near you in the bath, you’ll be naturally uplifting yourself and enjoying the aromatic vapors of one of the most versatile essential oils.

Watch your favorite movies
It doesn’t matter whether you like cheesy Rom-Coms or dark thrillers, spend this Valentine’s Day (or at least a date nearby) watching what you want to watch. It’s not selfish of you to spend a day enjoying the types of movies you love most, so don’t be afraid to try it.
Perform your entire skin care routine
On days when you wake up late and can barely get out of the door on time, your skin care routine is probably the first thing to go. This Valentine’s Day, though, don’t skimp out on this. Treat yourself to your entire skin care routine. For a complete skin care routine, I recommend trying the Jade Facial Roller from Valentia Aristan Skincare. You’ll feel the toning and soothing benefits of it almost immediately. When you’re done massaging your face, follow it up with the same brand’s Rose Water—the smell is unparalleled. And finally, use Ranavat Botanics’ Jasmine toner both in the morning and at night to achieve a more balanced complexion and take in yet another amazing scent.
Do your favorite hobby
The benefits of having a hobby are endless, and so are the benefits of actually doing that hobby. So obviously your Me Day should include at least some time doing your favorite hobby. Whether it’s drawing, baking, playing tennis, or singing, spend time doing what makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Paint your nails
Going to the salon and getting your nails painted can be pricey, so I say paint your own. Not only will you be saving money, but painting your own nails is also a fantastic method of self-care, because it requires you to focus on the task at hand for a given period of time. And, by the end of it, you have beautifully painted nails. For winter, try a soft pink nail color or a moody blue.
Get your zzzz’s
Everyone has a busy life in one way or another, whether you’re bogged down by work, family obligaitons, or academics. As a result, it can be hard to get enough sleep each night; however, getting enough sleep is essential to maximizing your overall physical, mental, and emotional health. Since I started using a silk pillowcase, I have gotten better sleep, and when I wake up, both my skin and my hair feel soft and refreshed. So, whether you’re trying to get enough sleep the night before Valentine’s Day or taking a nap mid-day, use a silk pillowcase to show yourself the utmost love.
Read or journal
There’s no denying the benefits one gets from reading a good book or journaling. This Me Day, carve some time out for reading or jotting down your thoughts—it will only bring you deeper clarity.
Valentine’s Day is for chocolates and sweets galore, and this standard holds for Me Day, too. You can decide which types of sweets you want to munch on throughout the day or night, but chocolate fondue is always a great pick.
Wear something that makes you feel loved
It may sound silly to say that clothes and accessories can make you feel loved, but it’s true. Coined by the phrase “Dare to be loved,” Dainty & Daring, a boutique accessory brand, is empowering women one handmade necklace at a time. Believe in yourself and love yourself this Valentine’s Day.
