The holidays are finally here, which means it’s time to take part in our favorite holiday traditions. Here are 10 festive, totally cheesy date ideas.

1. Christmas Movie Marathon

Snuggle up with a warm blanket and your favorite hot chocolate next to the fire and have a Christmas movie marathon. There are so many great options to choose from, so be prepared to spend an entire day or night cozied up.

2. Ice Skating in Ugly Holiday Sweaters

Next time you’re itching to go ice skating, bring a group of your friends along. Be super cliché and hold hands as you skate around in laps in the ugliest holiday sweaters you can find. If you have yet to find an ugly holiday sweater you love, try looking in thrift stores.

3. Build a Gingerbread House

Ignite your creativity and build a gingerbread house together. Decorate it with your favorite chocolates and candies and… voila! If you’re not up to making one entirely from scratch, buy a pre-made kit from a local store.

4. Take a Trip to the Snow

Being in the snow is sure to get you in the holiday spirit. If you’re able to go to a snow resort, try skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. If you prefer your snow days in the city, stick to building snowmen, making snow angels, and going on walks in the park.

5. See Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker Ballet is a holiday classic. No matter where you live, there is bound to be a ballet company performing it, whether that be a local one or a company traveling all the way from Europe. So, get tickets for you and your date and enjoy a night of beautiful music and dancing.

6. Explore Neighborhood Christmas Lights

Every neighborhood is bound to have at least a few houses with beautiful lights. If you’re on a budget, take advantage of the decorated houses in your own neighborhood and explore! Take a walk around the neighborhood or buckle up and blast the best holiday tunes in the car. At the end of the night, ask your date which house was their favorite.

7. Decorate a Christmas tree

Whether you buy your Christmas tree real or fake, from a lot or from a store, it’s always fun to decorate your tree with someone you care about. For an extra festive time, put on your favorite holiday playlist or movie while you string up lights and hang your ornaments.

If you’re anything like us, you have a long list of people whom you need to get gifts for. Next time you plan to go shopping, bring your date and spend some time looking in the windows. While you’re spending time together, be sure to admire the festive decorations and get some serious gift inspiration.

9. Cookie Decorating and Festive Drinks

If you and your date both have a sweet tooth and don’t mind getting dirty, have a night decorating cookies. For more fun, make a competition out of it. Find a photo online of a decorated cookie and see which one of you can mimic it best. Once you’re done, pair your homemade cookies with homemade apple cider, mulled wine, or your favorite holiday cocktail.
